Located in the heart of the Arlington business district, Babycakes café is popular with the Vassar College community and locals alike. This funky European-style eatery offers quality, made-from-scratch food in a casual setting. Recently expanded to a 65 seat restaurant, the café now serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with take-out and catering available. Everything from hand-rolled all butter croissants to jumbo sea scallops with locally milled organic polenta can be found on the menu. Babycakes bakery café was established in 2002 by the husband & wife team of Jarek & Susan Wysocki. Both graduates of the Culinary Institute of America, they saw the need for a quality European-style café in the Poughkeepsie area and happily decided to fill that niche. Mr. Wysocki, the pastry chef, hails from Gdansk, Poland and has the creative eye of an artist as displayed in everything from his pastries to his interior design. Ms. Wysocki has over fifteen years experience in the industry having worked as a chef and consultant prior to opening Babycakes. Since its inception six years ago, they have grown the café from an eighteen seat “hole-in-the-wall”, to a 65 seat full-service restaurant. Their dedication to serving high quality food continues as the move forward.
